The Brewster City Council has approved an ordinance that will hopefully eliminate a dispute regarding aircraft parking at AndersonFieldAirport.
Disputes arose last summer when airport lease holder Scott Baker, made a plea to the council to establish clear and concise regulations for the airport that would apply to all users.
Baker claimed that Golden Wings Aviation, which is owned by council member Dan Smith’s parents, was violating terms of their lease by parking aircraft on the airport ramp.
Mayor Lee Webster says some of the issues are related to Medstar Medical Flights coming in for medical emergencies only to find there was no where to park because the ramp was clogged with private business aircraft.
Following discussion the council voted 4-1 to approve an ordinance which allows lease holders to park their aircraft on their leased lots only and not the ramp. There is now a $100 a day for violations. Councilman Smith was the lone no vote to the ordinance.
The Brewster City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 PM next Wednesday, March 14th at City Hall.
