The Liberty Bell High School debate team finished out a fantastic season, qualifying for the state finals which is set to be held March 17 at Gonzaga University in Spokane.
High School debate teams are presented with a topic they will argue either in favor or in opposition, under a set time limit. Students are encouraged to read about current events and controversial issues to prepare for debates.
A panel of judges will assign points based on the strength of the arguments as well as the professionalism of the teams- and will declare a winner to advance to the next round.
Mark Wenzel, who coaches the Liberty Bell team, says competing in debate has offered students the opportunity to gain skills they may otherwise have not experienced.
Best of luck to the Liberty Bell debate team as they head to state Saturday, March 17th at GonzagaUniversity in Spokane.
