The Lake Chelan School board of directors unanimously rejected the placement of the proposed Recreation and Community Center on school property during their meeting Tuesday evening.
The Lake Chelan Recreation and Community Center, formerly called the AquaticsCenter, sought land owned by the school district located behind the community gym for a two story complex featuring year round, indoor amenities. The proposed facility included an 8 lane pool, therapy and leisure pool, gym and basketball courts, an elevated walking track, exercise and fitness rooms, as well as family locker rooms.
Chelan Superintendent, Rob Manahan, said that he made his recommendation to the board based on projected growth in the school district as well as input he received from the public.
The Lake Chelan School Board meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, making their next meeting 6PM on Tuesday, March 13th at the District Office on Johnson Ave. in Chelan.
