The Brewster City Council approved an ordinance pertaining to recurring false alarms for law enforcement after a few businesses failed to correct the problem during their February meeting.
The ordinance states that a service charge will be imposed upon every alarm whose system causes four or more false alarms within a twelve month period.
Brewster Mayor, Lee Webster says the ordinance was a last ditch effort brought on by repeated responses from law enforcement which diverted limited resources and services from other potential emergencies occurring in the city.
The Brewster City Council will meet again at 6PM on Wednesday, March 14th at the City Hall.
