The Lake Chelan School board of directors unanimously rejected the placement of the proposed Recreation and Community Center on school property during their meeting last night.
The Lake Chelan Recreation and Community Center, formerly called the AquaticsCenter, sought land owned by the school district located behind the community gym for a two story complex featuring year round, indoor amenities. The proposed facility included an 8 lane pool, therapy and leisure pool, gym and basketball courts, an elevated walking track, exercise and fitness rooms, as well as family locker rooms.
The Lake Chelan School Board members voiced concerns over timing and an overwhelming response from district voters who were against the use of that piece of land.
Tune into KOZI this morning at 8:10 when we have Superintendent Rob Manahan in the studio to walk us through the school board’s decision.
