Last nights ChelanCounty Sheriff’s Citizens Advisory Committee meeting provided an opportunity for citizens to ask Sheriff Brian Burnett questions face to face. The 20 plus community members in attendance voiced their concerns surrounding the lack of action on the Block Watch program originally discussed in a meeting last November.
One community member voiced concerns that despite repeated requests to the ChelanCounty Sheriff’s Department, little response has been received.
Sheriff Burnett assured those in attendance that he would have someone look into moving forward with the program which has proven to be very successful in the past.
Sheriff Burnett used last nights meeting to announce the addition of a new member of the Law Enforcement Team with the purchase of a second K-9 unit. Burnett said his department has long wanted to expand the the K9 program, but funding was an issue.
Burnett said their new deputy dog, “Axel”, will help save lives of both citizens and officers adding that K-9 law enforcement units are very cost effective. The Sheriff said “Axel” was a good investment for the department.
Tune into KOZI tomorrow morning when we will take an in-depth look at the changes within the Sheriff’s Department in the first year of Sheriff Burnett’s Administration .
