ChelanCounty Commissioners are hoping for an update this week on possible action on Congress Hastings’s Secure Rural School Proposal.
The proposal is aimed at providing rural counties with a stable revenue stream, creating jobs, growing rural economies and restoring healthy active forest management.
The proposal establishes a sustainable plan to increase timber sales through the active management of our forests. Doing so will generate new revenue for counties that is vitally needed to fund schools and roads and create new jobs in rural areas suffering from high unemployment.
ChelanCounty Commissioner, Doug England says the proposal will weigh heavily on the county budget.
The ChelanCounty Commissioners continue their weekly meetings today starting at 9 am and finishing up this afternoon.
