ChelanSchool District must be doing something right- both the elementary and high school ranked in the top 23 percent on the latest accountability index through the WashingtonPolicyCenter.
Nearly half of Washington’s public schools rank as fair or struggling.
Chris Cargill, Eastern Washington Director for WashingtonPolicyCenter, says the index was created in 2009, when the legislature asked the Washington state board of education to track the performance and progress of public schools.
Locally, three schools were ranked at the exemplary level: MorganOwingsElementary School in Chelan, BridgeportHigh School and LibertyBellHigh School.
Earning a Very Good ranking were ChelanHigh School and Pateros Elementary.
