Intalco Aluminum Corporation has backed out of the proposal they submitted to the Forest Service, which would allow them to construct and use a barge loading facility at Fields Point Landing.

 

Bob Sheehan, Chelan District Ranger says he asked for public input on the proposed project and the response was large, raising several concerns and questions surrounding the plan.

 

Those concerns were passed onto Intalco, who is now indicating they will be re-evaluating their options for a down lake port, though Sheehan is not sure where they are looking.

 

Sheehan adds that if Intalco does decide to make another request to move forward with the Fields Landing project, it would be necessary to respond to the many questions and concerns that were raised.
