To the relief of Stehekin residents, the tiny uplake rural Post Office serving their community has been taken off the chopping block by the Postal Service.
Postal Service spokesman, Ernie Swanson, says the Stehekin Post Office was likely saved because it is in such a remote location.
Swanson said all Postal Service Facilities slated for possible closure have been spared at least temporarily as a solution to the financial problems plaguing the Postal Sevice is sought.
The Chelan Falls Post Office does remain on the list for possible closure but no final decisions have been made.
