The Polar Bear Splash has been a tradition and part of the Winterfest festivities for 26 years, offering the opportunity for splashers to test how frigid the waters of Lake Chelan can get.
Every year splashers collect pledges to participate in the fun, with money raised going to Chelan Valley Hope.
This year, among those running out of the lake to bundle up near the bonfire will be Chelan School District Superintendent Rob Manahan, who admits he is a rookie at this sort of thing.
The Polar Bear Splash, or plunge as it is called in many locations, is a very popular event and is an annual tradition in Canada to ring in the New Year.
