The Town of Twisp no longer wants assistance from the Winthrop Marshal’s Office and an investigation has been launched.
According to Twisp Mayor, Soo Ing-Moody, Winthrop and Twisp have worked with a mutual aid assistance contract for years, allowing law enforcement from either town to respond to calls as needed.
Winthrop and Twisp are 8 miles apart from each other, and both fall in OkanoganCounty.
Twisp will now rely on Okanogan County Sheriff Deputies when additional assistance is necessary.
Mayor Ing-Moody says this is being treated as a personnel issue.
Winthrop Mayor, Dave Acheson is conducting his own investigation into claims that led up to the decision.
