A McNeilCanyon homeowner shot and killed a young cougar Saturday afternoon after it attacked his family dog.

 

Yesterday Cam Yarbrough told 2nd Cup Listeners his sons were out for a walk with the family dog, Nakota, near their home when they came across the cat.

 

According to Fish and Wildlife officials, the young cougar weighed in at 50 pounds and was feeding on a nearby deer that was likely killed by the mother.

 

No tickets are expected to be issued and wildlife officers will monitor the area to make sure the mother cougar does not cause any problems.
