Lake Chelan School Board members approved the funding to keep their School Resource Officer, after taking public comment during the December 13th School Board meeting.
Chelan Superintendent, Rob Manahan, says the total cost for a resource officer is about 150 thousand dollars annually, however, the school is only required to kick in a third of that.
But, with the recent and upcoming budget cuts, 50 thousand dollars is still a pretty high price tag for the school, making these sorts of decisions harder than they used to be.
The meeting was the last school board meeting for 2011, and Manahan says if he were going to grade the Lake ChelanSchool District, he would give them an A.
Manahan says everyone in the district is working hard to meet the needs of every student.
The Lake Chelan School Board meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, and will meet next on January 10th.
