The City of Chelan Recycling Program earned bragging rights again this year generating a near record amount of revenue for 2011.

 

Scott Beaton, City of Chelan Recycling Coordinator, says part of his job includes watching the market and selling while the prices are high and storing materials when prices are low. This year prices have been fluctuating but he hopes to meet or beat the record.

 

Beaton says the City’s Recycling Program goes beyond collecting and recycling materials. They have worked closely with the Chelan Schools to build a school recycling program that fosters good stewardship with students.
