The Chelan City Council will hold their last scheduled meeting of the year tomorrow night. Though the council will likely be adopting the 2012 Budget the issue that will probably draw the most public interest is the public hearing on the continuance of a medical marijuana moratorium.
In October the council unanimously voted to adopt an ordinance to enact a moratorium to prohibit the licensing, establishment, maintenance, or continuation of any use consisting of or including the sale of medical marijuana and the establishment of a medical marijuana dispensary or collective medical marijuana garden within the city limits.
City Administrator, Jim Reinbold says the city would like to extend that moratorium for another 6 months and will begin the process tomorrow night.
You can expect a robust turnout for that discussion.
Reinbold says before the Council can adjourn for the year they need to wrap up several business items including finalizing the 2012 City Budget.
The meeting tomorrow night will start at 6 pm in the City Hall Council Chambers on Johnson, and will serve as their last meeting for 2011.
