The Manson Community Council is struggling to attract candidates for the five member board. With all five seats on the board up for renewal this year only three positions garnered candidates leaving two seats without a declared candidate. Some residents believe community councils lack any real power so why bother.
Chelan County Commissioner, Doug England, says although community councils have no binding legal authority, they serve a very important role in county government….

The original deadline to declare candidacy for the Manson Community Council has passed leaving two spots without candidates, so the council decided to extend the filing period through this Friday. Current councilmember, Sue Crinklaw, says they hope that this extension will attract candidates for the open positions……

The elections will take place on Tuesday December 13th from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Lake Chelan Reclamation office in Manson.
