The lease on the Chelan Chamber of Commerce building has expired and negotiations are underway to create a new lease for the organization that supports business in the valley.

 

Mike Steel, Chamber Director, says an offer to purchase the building by the City of Chelan was rejected by Chelan County PUD and the building is currently not for sale.

 The PUD is willing to enter into a lease with the Chamber, but would prefer to hand over responsibility for maintenance to someone else.

 

Steel says they are very early in the negotiations, but the Chamber has crafted a proposal for the Chelan Parks to take over those maintenance duties.

 Steel adds that they are all working hard to come to an agreement as soon as possible, and the PUD is honoring the old lease on a month to month basis until a new one is finalized.
