With deep cuts at the federal, state and county level and revenue on the decline, it comes as no surprise that Chelan County Regional Justice Center is also looking at ways to cut costs.

With deep cuts at the federal, state and county level and revenue on the decline, it comes as no surprise that Chelan County Regional Justice Center   is also looking at ways to cut costs.

 

Chelan County Sergeant Rob Huddleston says one of those possible cuts might include dropping the mobile jail unit and jail officer’s that have been part of managing our influx of visitors over Memorial Day Weekend.

Huddleston says that while he understands major cuts are needed, he is hoping this is not one of them.

Memorial Weekend patrol costs for Chelan County Deputies are included in the City of Chelan law enforcement contract with Chelan County. The Regional Justice Center is a separate budget than the Sheriffs Office and is not included in the law enforcement contract. Chelan County Commissioners must now either find a way to pay for the mobile jail to come to Chelan for Memorial Day weekend, or risk losing it.
