The Winthrop Town Council took care of business in record time at Wednesday’s council meeting. It took just 20 minutes for the council to hold a public hearing and run through the agenda.
Michelle Gaines, Winthrop Clerk Treasurer, reports there were citizens on hand for the public hearing regarding the proposed budget for 2012, but none with any comments.

The council appointed council member Mortee Banasky (Banaskee) to serve as mayor pro tem for 2012. Banasky (Banaskee) is replacing Tiffany Langdolen who served for 2011.
“Pro Tem” is a latin phrase best translated to “for the time being” and describes a councilmember who acts in the absence of the mayor.
Winthrop Town Council meets the first and third Wednesday of each month.. Their next meeting is scheduled for 7 PM Wednesday, December 7th at The Barn.
