Wenatchee High Mourns Death of Student 11/18/2011
Wenatchee Police and emergency services personnel responded to Wenatchee High School just before 11 AM Thursday morning after a student was found unresponsive at the bottom of the High School swimming pool.

Wenatchee Police and emergency services personnel responded to Wenatchee High School just before 11 AM Thursday morning after a student was found unresponsive at the bottom of the High School swimming pool.  The student, 14-year old Antonio Reyes, was taken to Central Washington Hospital but could not be revived.

Reyes had been in the pool with classmates participating in a swimming class that was scheduled between 9 and 10 AM.  Police investigators interviewed classmates and teachers and determined Reyes likely drowned while in class though his classmates and teacher was unaware of this occurring.  Reyes was found around 10:50 AM by students of the next scheduled swimming class.  Reyes was pulled out of the pool and teachers performed CPR on Reyes until emergency medical services workers arrived at the scene and took over.

The initial investigation has been completed and Wenatchee Police investigators do not believe foul play is an issue in the drowning.  An autopsy has also been scheduled by the Chelan County and some follow up interviews  will be completed in the coming days.
