The Washington State Department of Health has taken disciplinary action against a Chelan nursing assistant related to an incident that occurred in a senior group home earlier this year.
The department’s Health Systems Quality Assurance Division works with boards, commissions, and advisory committees to set licensing standards for more than 70 health care professions including medical doctors, nurses and counselors.
In October the Nursing Assistant Program charged registered nursing assistant Misty Sunshine Rains with unprofessional conduct. While deputies performed a welfare check on a resident in Chelan, they allegedly found Ms. Rains in an apparent state of intoxication. She allegedly left the oven on and the food inside was burning and she was holding a nearly empty bottle of vodka.
Health care providers charged with unprofessional conduct have 20 days to respond to the Department of Health in writing. The case then enters the settlement process. If no disciplinary agreement can be reached, the case will go to a hearing.
