Chelan County PUD is awaiting reports from three consulting firms before making any decisions regarding the expansion of the fiber-optic network to the rest of Chelan County.

In February, PUD General Manager John Janney pulled the plug on the fiber-optic project and fired the top two fiber project managers. This halt came after build-out costs were discovered to be understated and actual costs continued to escalate far beyond original estimates. .

Commissioner Bolz said the PUD has invested a lot of money in Fiber Buildout and they are not going to abandon the program now. But he asks customers to please be patient as they gather information to make the right decision.
