It took less than 10 minutes for Chelan County PUD Commissioners to approve a new 2.7 cents per kilowatt hour flat rate for residential customers.
The new rate will take effect Jan. 1, replacing a much more complicated billing system that involved different rates depending on the amount of power each customer used.
PUD Commissioner Dennis Bolz gives us more details on the new flat rate as well as how this will change the average bill."CLICK HERE" for Audio
Bolz adds that the temporary 9 percent surcharge was a source of concern when it was implemented back in May, 2009, but it was always the goal of the PUD to drop that when they were financially able to.
