The Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest has a proposal ready as part of the transportation planning effort for the Chewuch (Chee-Wuck) watershed. The Chewuch watershed is north of Winthrop and one of the larger watersheds in the Methow Valley.
Michael Liu, District Ranger for the Methow Valley Ranger District, tells us the purpose of this proposal and why it is necessary to develop a new transportation plan."CLICK HERE" for Audio
Liu says they have been working on this plan for more than a year now, as part of the National Environmental Policy Act, and gives us some details on how the proposal was drafted."CLICK HERE" for Audio
Liu also adds that they are now seeking comments on that proposal, adding that public involvement is an important part of the process.
