The Winthrop Town Council held its regularly scheduled meeting Wednesday, October 5. During their meeting, the council covered a lot of business including the approval of a voter approved 1/10th of a percent increase in sales tax.

Gaines also adds that several community members came before the council with concerns regarding the possibility of a change in the current chicken and rooster code.

The Town of Winthrop Council meets the first and second Wednesday of each month, making the next meeting Wednesday, October 19.
