Chelan County Fire District 5 in Manson hosted a regional grant to upgrade the radio communications between emergency services and dispatchers, and that system is now in place.

District 5 Fire Chief, Arnold Baker, who spearheaded the grant application process, says that under the old system communication was often lost when multiple agencies were attempting to contact dispatch. Chief Baker explains how the new system operates and why it was such a critical improvement."CLICK HERE" for Audio

Chief Baker adds that there are a lot of changes in store as the kinks in this new system are worked out. For now, we are hearing an increase in radio traffic on the scanners, but Baker expects that to drop as additional channels are put into place.
