Lewinsohn Court Date 9/29/2011
Joel Lewinsohn, a teacher at Chelan High School, is scheduled to stand before the judge in court this morning at 8:30 am in Okanogan County Superior Court.

Lewinsohn was taken into custody on Thursday, September 15th at Chelan High School and was booked into Chelan County Regional Justice Center before being transferred to Okanogan County on charges stemming from an incident at his home the night before.

Chelan County Sheriff Detective Jerry Moore said deputies were called to Chelan High School to investigate allegations of domestic abuse. Moore said that Lewinsohn allegedly assaulted his wife and pointed a firearm at his two teenage daughters. Information gathered in witness interviews lead to the arrest of Lewinsohn on multiple charges.

After spending the weekend locked up, Lewinsohn posted bond, which was set at $5,000, and was released on September 19th. The NO-CONTACT order issued by the judge prohibits Lewinsohn from contact with his wife who is also an employee of the Chelan School District.

Lake Chelan School District Superintendent Rob Manahan confirms that Joel Lewinsohn, who is a first year teacher at Chelan High School, has been placed on paid administrative leave.

Stay tuned to KOZI for the outcome of Lewinsohn’s court appearance.
