Chelan County Sheriffs Deputies have arrested a Chelan school teacher on charges of assault in the first degree with a firearm. First year math teacher, Joel Lewinsohn, was taken into custody on Thursday September 15th at the Chelan High School and was booked into Chelan county Regional Justice Center on multiple charges stemming from an incident at his home the night before.
Chelan County Sheriff Detective Jerry Moore said deputies were called to Chelan High School to investigate allegations of domestic abuse leveled by a high school student. Detective Moore told Kozi News that information gathered in witness interviews lead to the arrest of teacher Joel Lewinsohn multiple charges.
After spending the weekend locked up, Lewinsohn posted bond and was released from jail on Monday September 19. The NO-CONTACT order issued by the judge prohibits Joel from contact with his wife who is also an employee of the Chelan School District.
Lake Chelan School District Superintendent Rob Manahan confirms that Joel Lewinsohn, who is a first year teacher at Chelan High School, has been placed on paid administrative leave.
