Waterville School District has been ordered to reinstate math teacher Jin Zhu, who was fired in 2009 after the school district conducted an investigation into allegations made by students and parents that Zhu was verbally abusive, refused to help students, left students unattended and allowed students to use class time for inappropriate reasons.
Zhu quickly requested a hearing to contest his termination and the hearing officer has ruled that the district failed to provide substantial evidence to support the misconduct was enough to fire Zhu.
Zhu also hired Steve Lacy to represent him in a discrimination lawsuit, claiming Waterville School District officials failed to intervene when he was subject to racial slurs from students.
Steve Lacy, attorney for Zhu, and East Wenatchee Mayor, explains the difference between the discrimination suit and the probable cause hearing."CLICK HERE" for Audio
An amount has not been set for the Waterville School District to reimburse Zhu.
