The Chelan Ranger District has received a request from Intalco Aluminum Corporation, the company leading the Holden Mine Clean-Up, to allow them to construct and use a barge loading facility at Fields Point Landing.

Sheehan said at this point, the Chelan Ranger District is asking for comments and input before making any decision on whether to allow the construction of the barge facility or not.

Sheehan said that if they do decide to allow this project, it would be used by Intalco for several years before the Forest Service would be allowed to turn it into a year round boat launch.

Sheehan explains why public comment is such an important part of this process.
