US 97 Fire 8/18/2011
Yesterdays afternoon fire on US 97 north of Baker Flats closed the east side roadway for about an hour before re-opening to traffic just before 5 pm..

An older house and garage in a grove of tall between the First Fruits Produce Market and B&B Fruit Stand were completely destroyed in the blaze. Several vehicles were also destroyed in the fire, leading to several moderate explosions. The home, reportedly owned by Richard Reid, was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

Dave Baker, Douglas County 2 assistant fire chief, said no one was injured in the fire. Firefighters from Douglas County District 2, Chelan County District 1, Wenatchee, Orondo and Monitor were called to the fire.
