Chelan County PUD Lawsuits 8/11/2011
The two Chelan County PUD managers fired in February for underestimating fiber-optic network costs have formally filed lawsuits against the utility and its general manager, John Janney. Monday in Chelan County Superior Court.

Joe Jarvis, former executive manager of operations, and John Smith, former managing director of engineering and technology filed the lawsuits on Monday in Chelan County Superior Court.

East Wenatchee attorney Steve Lacy is representing both former manager, claiming the PUD violated both its own policy and the “due process” guarantees of the U.S. Constitution by firing them without just cause and without following the correct procedure.

Both are asking for damages to be determined at time of trial for violation of their rights, and compensation for economic loss and court costs. Before filing suit, Jarvis demanded a settlement from the PUD of at least $950,000. Smith demanded at least $750,000.

Both Jarvis and Smith have secured other employment.
