LINK Electric Bus 7/5/2011
LINK Transit has been testing out its first all-electric bus. After delays from the manufacturer, the first of five neon green “Current” busses was delivered to Wenatchee about a month ago. LINK has been testing the high tech bus and so far, Marketing Coordinator Eric West says tests are looking positive.

The all-electric busses are funded through federal stimulus dollars and therefore not affected by recent budget cuts. West said the first month of testing has created excitement for delivery of the rest of the fleet.

But will the rest of the fleet arrive on time? LINK had originally planned on unveiling the electric trolleys last October, before the manufacturer had to alter its manufacturing and delivery schedule. West said the goal is to have the public boarding the bright green busses in September.

The 5 all-electric trolleys will serve the greater Wenatchee area.
