1,800 tickets in three days. That’s what kept Washington State Patrol troopers busy last week as they checked almost 1,200 commercial vehicles as part of Roadcheck 2011.
Over the course of the operation, the patrol issued nearly 1,800 tickets, took 214 vehicles out of service because of safety violations, and removed 43 drivers, mostly for record of duty violations.
More than 400 vehicles were given Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance decals to those that passed the inspection process and met CVSA requirements.
Washington State’s Roadcheck 2011 emphasis patrols were part of a larger, international effort to promote and enforce commercial vehicle safety. Similar operations were conducted throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
