South Shore Road Restored to Two Lane 6/15/2011
Chelan County Public Works crews succeeded in restoring two way traffic on a stretch of South Shore Road about three miles up-lake from the State Park. The road was closed by a large mudslide that temporarily stranded motorists on the up-lake side for a few hours last Friday. Drivers had been using a one lane bypass road to get through the area since then.

Brad Harn of the Chelan County Public Works Chelan and Manson shop says there is a 25 mile per hour speed limit and plenty of loose gravel in the area and that drivers should use caution.

It’s the third consecutive year a slide has closed the road. Original estimates put this year’s slide at about 413 long and 8 feet deep, although no one was injured and there was little damage to private property.
