Fridays have had a tragic streak lately, with a pedestrian killed near Lakeside Park Memorial Day Friday, and a two car collision on US-97 near Beebe Bridge claiming two lives last week.
With another weekend approaching, Chelan County Sheriff Sergeant Rob Huddleston reminds motorists that for the most part, there’s been the common problem of driving while tired or being distracted.
Speed is also often a factor. Huddleston points out people tend to underestimate the damage even moderate speeds can cause.
448 people lost their lives on the state’s roads last year, and Huddleston reminds drivers to use their seatbelts for safety. Failure to wear a seat belt can also result in a $124 ticket.
