Target Lake Level Not Going To Happen 6/8/2011
Chelan County PUD Commissioner Dennis Bolz says it looks as though the PUD will miss its goal of returning the level of Lake Chelan to its goal 1,098'above sea level by July 1st.

The Chelan PUD must make a “reasonable effort” to comply with the lake level management practices defined in the Lake Level Plan under the terms of its Chelan Dam licensing agreement.

The current elevation of Lake Chelan is nearly 5' below the historical average for this date. Bolz says he realizes the results are frustrating to lake users but the reason for the lag is simple, snow pack in the mountains that feeds the lake is estimated at 345 percent of normal for this time of year.
