New Trial Date for Christopher Wilson 6/7/2011
A new trial date has been set for the man accused in the murder of MacKenzie Cowell. Christopher Wilson was back in court Monday for a trial status hearing. Wilson has a new defense lawyer, John Henry Brown who has handled some of the state’s most high profile cases. An attorney from Brown’s Seattle firm was in court yesterday in his place to request the 3 to 4-week trial be postponed until January 31st. The request was granted by Chelan County Superior Court Judge John Bridges.

The charges against Wilson were recently upgraded to first degree murder. He’s suspected of strangling and stabbing Cowell to death at his apartment in Wenatchee in March 2010.

The next pretrial hearing in the case has been scheduled for September 28th. Brown announced last week that he might seek a change of venue, citing the difficulty in seating an untainted jury pool in the Wenatchee area.
