With Memorial Day this weekend, agencies from law enforcement to the National Forest service are getting ready for the annual return of the crowds. Local Ranger Bob Sheehan says the Chelan Ranger District is no exception:
Unlike state-owned campgrounds, Forest Service campgrounds are first come first served, and Sheehan says, that’s by design as they serve as overflow for the state campgrounds that fill up early with reservations.
Sheehan says the more popular camping spots are now accessible, however with snow levels still unseasonably low, upper elevation sites are still unusable.
To get answers to specific questions, campers should contact the Chelan Ranger Station at 682-4900.
