An early morning 911 call originating from Lake Chelan Community Hospital triggered a major law enforcement response and led to an emergency lockdown of the hospital facility. The 5:30 am call reported a confrontation between a man and woman at the hospital possibly including a handgun.
Chelan County Sheriff Deputies along with WSP Troopers responded from as far away as Wenatchee and Monitor. Chelan County Sheriff Deputy Curtis Varner told Kozi that he along with other officers established a perimeter around the hospital and waited for reinforcements prior to attempting to apprehend the suspect.
The hospital staff reported the unidentified man was roaming the hospital halls threatening to harm his girlfriend who was a patient at the hospital.
Hospital staff hid the female patient and locked down the hospital according to procedure.
By 6:15 am reinforcements had arrived, allowing law enforcement to assemble and advance to the rear of the hospital near the emergency entrance. When confronted and ordered to show his hands the suspect complied and was taken into custody without any further incidence.
No shots were fired and no one was injured. The unidentified suspect has been charged with Felony Harassment-Domestic Violence and Violation of a No-Contact Order.
