A brush fire spread to a modular home on Stayman Flats Road on Sunday afternoon. Chelan Fire Chief Tim Lemon said the fire was reported about 4 p.m. When crews arrived, it had spread to the side of the house.
A neighbor who saw the fire ran to the home to wake up the man inside, Lemon said. The neighbor and the occupant have remained unidentified. No one was injured in the fire which damaged the attic and crawl space of the small home.
According to Chief Lemon, the brush fire consumed less than one-tenth of an acre. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
The City of Wenatchee will ask the courts to decide if it’s legal to pursue a contingency loan agreement to support a 42 million dollar bond to be issued by the Public Facility District.
The recommendation came from the City’s attorney Steve Smith, who says it boils down to the legal definition of the money owed by the district.
The current short term bond anticipation note expires at the end of the year, and defaulting on the loan could spell trouble for the City and have an impact on other jurisdictions that comprise the PFD.
