Okanogan Electric Coop Election Results 4/21/2011
Okanogan County Electric Coop members cast ballots this week to replace three of the nine members of the Coop’s board. A better than usual turnout was motivated by a recently restructured rate system that many ratepayers found unfair, concerns about the system’s infrastructure and a perceived lack of transparency in the board’s dealings.

Coop Interim Manager Doug Adams said the results were so close they had to conduct a recount on two of the races.

The latest numbers show Kent Hitch defeating incumbent Ken Westman: 715 voted to 683 in the At-Large race. Ardis Bynum holds a 719 to 677 vote advantage over Charlie Ryan in the Central District position while Dale Sekijima leads Jim Brennan 963 to 435 for the South District seat.

The new members will be issued the oath of office at the regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday April 26th, at the Coop’s offices starting at 7PM.
