State Budget Pinch Felt Locally 4/8/2011
Worries over the State’s massive budget deficit are being heard far outside the halls of the Legislature in Olympia. County government leaders are also expressing concerns over the State budget crisis and the likelihood that local government will be forced to absorb some of the financial hurt.

The House budget proposal unveiled this week would cut spending by $4.4 billion. Douglas County Commissioners Ken Stanton Commissioner and Dale Snyder believe the legislature’s practice of passing the buck needs to change.

And its not just the State’s financial problems that Commissioner Steve Jenkins worries about. There are federally funded programs that are also threatened as Congressional budget debates rage in Washington DC.
