Clare Wise of the Mission Ridge Ski Team underwent surgery Saturday after breaking her tibia and fibula while training at the ski area.
Wise is expected to be out five to six months, interrupting a successful 2010-2011 season that included a win in the first Northwest Cup super G at Schweitzer, Idaho, and podium finishes in both Northwest Cup giant slalom events and in two Big Sky super G races.
Last season, she received the Northwest Skier of the Year award from the Pacific Northwest Ski Association.
Clare is the daughter of Barry and Jill Wise, long time residents of the Chelan Valley and supporters of Echo Valley Ski Hill.
