The board of Directors for Chelan Valley Independent School heard a report from a parents group yesterday afternoon at their regularly scheduled Board Meeting. This after community members were invited to what was described as “an emergency meeting” on Saturday to address financial challenges facing the private school in Chelan. Board Member Meg Raines told Kozi that the community “heard the call and responded.”
The CVIS Board hosted Saturday’s meeting and was generally pleased with the turnout. Raines said the message from the board was clear, “It’s your school”. The board told those in attendance that ultimately the parents are responsible for fundraising to generate sufficient revenue to keep the doors open.
By the end of the evening parents and community supporters had chosen Tara Elsner to serve as the parent representative to the board of directors and attend yesterdays CVIS Board Meeting. Elsner and the parent group presented a 30 day action plan to the board laying out their plans to keep the school open.
