Chelan Marine Patrol Ramping Things Up 3/22/2011
As a sure sign of Spring, the Chelan County Marine Patrol is beginning to fire things up and it won’t be long before the lake is buzzing with boats and other watercraft. But before you hit the water, the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission is reminding boaters that safety education is required by law in Washington State, along with a boater safety card.

According to the State Parks Boating Safety Council, an average of 25 boaters are killed each year in Washington, and many more are injured.

The fine for boating without the safety card is $87. a Boater Safety Card costs $10 and is good for a lifetime. More information is available at boatered.org (boater-ed.org).
