One of the first orders of business by the newly reconstituted Manson Parks District Board of Directors was to finally put their stamp of approval on a long term contract with their director, Wai (Wy) Petersen. The board hashed out the agreement in a special session during a meeting that lasted almost two hours.
Petersen says the future of the Baumgartner Building occupied a large part of the conversation. The building sits on Manson School District property but was donated to the parks department by a local family:"CLICK HERE" for Audio
The Manson School District has declared the property surplus, and Petersen says the Parks Board is trying to look ahead on what to do with the structure.
In other business, Petersen says the district is moving ahead with an automated pay system at the boat launch after receiving favorable input from other facilities using the .
Also during the proceedings, Len England was named as board chair.
The next Manson Parks Board meeting is scheduled for next Thursday at 4PM.
