Crews are continuing with preparations for slope stabilization above Rocky Point on the Manson Highway. According to the Department of Transportation’s Jeff Adamson everything is remaining on schedule.
Beginning next Monday, full road closures will be in effect from 8 AM until 4:30 PM, with the exceptions of 30 minute openings at 10 AM, 12 PM, and 2 PM. A detour involving Winesap and Boyd Roads will be in place.
The project is expected to take about 10 weeks to complete.
(We’ve posted a map of the detour on kozi.com.)
Which means for the rest of this next week, motorists can expect single lane traffic control while crews set up temporary barriers and stage equipment for the slope work. A thick bed of sand on one lane of the roadway will mean 24 hour a day flagger controlled traffic, including this coming Sunday, even though crews will have the day off.
