After a year of fits and starts, the long awaited Spring Creek Bridge project has begun to move forward.

At last week’s meeting, the Winthrop council took another step by approving the Belsby Construction lease resolution, which was a requirement for the project to move forward. Town Clerk Michelle Gains tells us: "CLICK HERE" for Audio

Designed for pedestrians and bicyclists, the Spring Creek Bridge will link both halves of Winthrop’s planned Susie Stephens Trail where it crosses the Methow River.

Earlier this month, the council awarded the bridge contract to Mowatt (MO-watt) Construction, which won the bid over two other competitors.

Matching funds for the Spring Creek Bridge and Susie Stephens trail projects are available through the end of this year. The goal is to have everything completed by the end of October.
